The Martinez Education Foundation (MEF) has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate and communicate our commitment to the privacy of the users of MEF's Web Site and to conducting business with the highest ethical standards and appropriate internal controls. The following discloses MEF's information gathering and dissemination policies for the MEF Web Site:

Collection and Dissemination of Personally Identifiable Information
The Martinez Education Foundation's Web Site may receive and maintain information such as user name, e-mail address, telephone number, and other personally identifiable information only when personally submitted by users through optional donation forms for our various events or programs. These forms and the information provided within the forms allow users to make contributions or volunteer to assist MEF. Information gathered via this Site is not shared with third parties, unless the involved individual requests such sharing or the law requires disclosure. MEF does not sell personally identifiable information to third parties for commercial purposes.

The MEF Web Site does not capture information regarding the specific activities of any particular user. It does, however, produce reports that allow us to view activity in anonymous aggregated form. MEF does not use JavaScript, cookies, Web bugs, or any other active content mechanism to capture or maintain information about users. The only personal information we capture has been specifically submitted to us through voluntary means.

MEF reserves the right to disclose user information in special circumstances, where MEF believes that the disclosure of such information is necessary to identify or contact someone who may be interfering or violating MEF's rights or property or other users or to protect or enforce MEF's rights or obligations. The Foundation may also disclose user information when law or regulation requires such disclosure. For example, disclosure may be made if the foundation receives a subpoena or order from an administrative agency. In such instances, we will provide the individual with notice of the disclosure as legally permissible.

Online Transactions
If you make an online donation to MEF or use this website to make a payment to MEF, that transaction is made via PayPal. The entire process is encrypted, and we never see nor have access to your credit card information. (A PayPal account is not required to make a purchase or donation by credit card.) PayPal is in no way affiliated with MEF, and MEF does not obtain or acquire any donor credit card information from Pay Pal.  We believe PayPal's encryption technology protects donor information from inadvertent or other disclosure, but MEF makes no warranty or guarantee that the use of PayPal will protect any user from every virus, security threat, or other vulnerability. IP Addresses
The MEF Web Site logs IP addresses and browser types for administrative purposes. MEF reviews such logs in order to improve the content and functionality of the Web Site. MEF does not use JavaScript, cookies, Web bugs, or any other active content mechanism to capture or maintain information about users.

Third Party Links
The MEF Web Site may contain links to other sites, some of which are not operated nor owned by MEF. MEF is not responsible for the security or privacy practices of non-MEF sites, the products or services offered by such sites, or the content appearing at such sites.
MEF prohibits the framing of any materials available through the MEF Web Site and unauthorized hypertext links to the MEF's Web Site. MEF reserves the right to disconnect or otherwise disable any unauthorized frames or hypertext links.

Information Security
The MEF Web Site is protected with a variety of security measures such as change control procedures and physical access controls. MEF also employs a variety of other mechanisms to protect a user's data from being lost, misused, or altered inappropriately. These controls include data confidentiality policies and regular database backups. Although MEF takes these measures to safeguard against unauthorized use of a user's data, because such information is transmitted via the Internet, MEF cannot provide assurances that personally identifiable information transmitted to MEF will never be compromised.

Policy Changes
MEF reserves the right to modify or update this Privacy Policy or other terms and conditions of use of the MEF Web Site at any time by updating the relevant link. Any modifications or updates shall be effective upon posting to the MEF Web Site.
